History and Location
The building that houses Kapooka Early Childhood Centre Inc was built in the 1960’s. It was established as an educational facility for preschool children aged 3 to 6 years. Originally known as Kapooka Kindergarten the service changed its name in 2002.
The Centre is located on Commonwealth land in the small Defence village of Kapooka. The original building still houses our main activities. Extensions and several upgrades have provided additional play space for the children and educators to engage in a program that is safe, secure and accessible.
Management of the Preschool Service
In 1989 the service was incorporated and today, the preschool continues to operate as a community based, not-for-profit preschool operated by a voluntary management committee. This itself is a significant achievement and an accolade to the many committee members, families, children and staff who have contributed to the preschool's existence over time.
The many and varied contributions of the parent members of our preschool management committee have created the welcoming preschool community that we are extremely privileged to be part of today.
